Main Couple: Ada and Marcus Loch (She go back and forth between calling him Marcus and Loch.)
The Story: Space princess on the run gets caught and teams up with the most wanted man in the universe to escape. The two team up to evade the armies pursuing them and find a way to live their own lives. But will the sparks between them change their plans.
The Sex: Unrealistic. Sorry. The sexual tension between Ada and Loch is really well written, but when it came time for the actual sex it didn’t feel real. She’s so turned on during a dinner party that one basic brush of his fingers against her clit gets her to orgasm? Almost made the throw the book away. There’s little description as well. The second time they have sex (both oral and vaginal intercourse) it’s described in barely a page and a half. I wanted the feel and the fun of the sex to match the banter.
Favorite Lines:
“‘If you stay in this room, we’re going to fuck,’ he said plainly. ‘If that’s not what you want, you should leave now.” & “‘Are you sure Ada?’ he asked again, seeking confirmation.” Chapter 16 Goodness me, do I love some consent.
“Ada, what do you need?” he demanded. Chapter 16 How uncharacteristic of the male gender! To ask for directions.
Least Favorite Lines:
“His right hand slid down my front while his left traveled upward. He glided a finger over my clit at the same time he pinched my left nipple and that was all it took. I’d been on edge for so long that I fell into the orgasm without any warning.” Chapter 16 Glided!!! That’s all it took????? I hate this so much.
“‘I don’t know,’ I whined. I slid a hand between our bodies and ghosted a finger over my still-sensitive clit. Close, but not quite there. I whimpered.” Chapter 16 This was her fucking answer to his question from above! C’mon girl!!!!! This is followed up with her stating his dirty talk gave her the orgasm. It’s great, but so is clitoral stimulation
Final Thoughts:
Gotta love the term “Space Opera”, am I right? Even though the sex itself left something to be desired, the story was great and the sexual tension between Ada and Loch is well written. It’s almost immediate and I love good banter with sexual innuendos. They also fight their attraction due to the circumstance they find themselves in. Didn’t enjoy when they jumped to dumb ass conclusions. (Ex. I let him see the regret and sadness, the longing and desire that I would never be brave enough to admit to aloud.” Chapter 19. Why? Admit it outlaid!) Just talk to each other like humans! What kept me interested was the story and Ada. She’s not a damsel in distress, though Loch is certainly the super solider helping her. She’s smart and capable. She’s brave and reckless. As far as their relationship goes, they respect each other’s skills. Ultimately, this is a book I enjoyed because of the plot. In spite of the sex. I wish the sex scenes were are well written as the rest of it.
Spice Level: 1/5
Kinks Explored: Nothing. The sex was boring to read.
Voices Heard: White and Asian seem to be the norm for this universe.
Did I like it? For the story. There are two more books in this series. I want to know what these crazy kids will get up to next. But I’m not expecting the enjoy the sex.
