Main Couple: Lowen and Jeremy
*Spoilers!!!!
The Story: When Lowen agrees to kickstart her flagging writing career by becoming the “collaborator” for superstars Verity Crawford, she gets more than she bargains for. In order to help get inside the mind of brain injured Verity, Lowen spends weeks at the family home going through her office and her writing. Will the forced time together ignite a spark between Lowen and Verity’s husband Jeremy?
The Sex: Most of the sex described in this book is from Verity’s perspective in her “autobiography.” That perspective is…problematic. Honestly, the whole dynamic of this book is problematic. I do appreciate that Jeremy works to make whatever partner he’s with orgasm during a sexual experience even if it’s after he does during intercourse. That’s always a plus. But he’s a hard fucking pass for me. So much about this book gives me the creeps. I get that it’s a suspense, but I find Lowen and Jeremy’s whole thing problematic. When Lowen and Jeremy first have sex, they have a check in about birth control (him saying he doesn’t have condoms and her saying she’s not on birth control), and even that felt creepy. Like they were too lazy to stop even though they didn’t want a kid. It really felt like they were using each other to escape the other shit in their life, but couldn’t be bothered to build a real relationship.
Favorite Lines:
Didn’t highlight any because once it got creepy I just read as fast as I could.
Least Favorite Lines:
See above.
Final Thoughts:
I don’t like the suspense aspect. No matter how steamy it gets. Just thinking of this books now gives me the creeps. Maybe this is the shit ya’ll love, because I kept seeing this “steamy” book popping up, but it’s really not for me. Their relationship is fucking toxic. They are both lying to each other. They think there’s a connection between them, probably because of the way they “meet cute” before the official meeting, but the relationship they build is based on so many fucking lies. They relationship feels like they were in each other’s vicinity and then couldn’t be bothered to stop being a couple. Ya’ll, I can’t express how much I disliked this book. I could find nothing about it sexy because of it’s terrible set of circumstances.
